The Dix 430 cruising catamaran is a smaller sister to the DH550, which has shown itself to be a beautiful boat.

Construction is a development of the radius chine plywood concepts that Dudley has drawn since the early 1990’s. These concepts started with the monohull Didi 38 “Black Cat”, which he built to test the construction method then sailed across the South Atlantic three times. Since then he has developed other performance oriented monohull designs of similar concept, from 21 to 42ft LOA. Hundreds of boats to this method are in build or sailing worldwide.

Customers have expressed an interest in a smaller version of the DH550 so the original concept design for the 430 has evolved with the same arch design for the superstructure as the 550. The 430 is currently available with cruising keels with a dagger board variant available at a later date. The hull design uses stepped sides to maintain internal width and a raised sheer for the hull/deck junction to improve proportions

The interior arrangement is modelled around 2 cabins in each hull, sharing a common heads/shower area that separates them for privacy. A owners cabin variant is also available with the port hull modelled around a single cabin with large shower and storage areas.

The initial design stage is complete and Exocetus will be able to offer kits for this new generation of Catamaran soon. All the kit features of the Dix470/DH550 have been migrated to the Dix 430 kit with the addition of pre-fabricated hull bulkheads including fitted hard wood door frames.
