Exocetus is building the first Dix 470. Build is taking place in the UK and is the development base for the Exocetus Kits. The Build was initially started as a personal project but it soon became apparent the design would benefit from CNC kit development especially for the home builder. Both hull structures are complete, with the first hull having engine and cabin internals finished.
Work has now commenced on the bridge deck which will provide a work platform for the internal fit out of the second hull and deck installation.
The Catamaran structure will be built to allow transport to the launch site in two sections. Final bonding will then be carried out at the launch site. The kit has been developed with this build method as an option for construction locations that are remote to launch sites.
The bridgedeck bulkheads have been bonded in place. The roof beams are now under construction.
The bridgedeck forward frame work installation.
Bridgedeck beams completed ready for installation
Bridgedeck beams ready for top and bottom mahogany installation
Starboard side of Bridgedeck floor installation.
The bridgedeck forward frame skin installed.
Bridgedeck support beams bonded in place.
Hulls are constructed inverted. The build cradle simplifies bulkhead positioning and support.
